Agni V.

To all my Indian friends, Congrats!
The Agni-V is finally out! :-D

Agni-V : The Intercontinental Ballistic Missile ( I.C.B.M.) developed by the DRDO ( Defence Research and Development Organisation). The Agni-V is a part of Agni Missile Series. They're one of missile systems under 'Integrated Guided Missile Development Programme'.The range of Agni V is about 5,500 kms.
The Agni-V will be operational by 2014. With a missile like Agni-V, India can strike targets across Asia and Europe.  The Agni-V IIBM will also carry a MIRV (Multiple Independently Targetable re-entry Vehicle) payloads.
A MIRV equipped missile is known to launch multiple warheads at different targets. The launch mass of Agni-V is about 50 tonnes. The cost for the development of Agni-V is about 25Billion INR.
The Agni-V is also equipped with a ring-laser gyroscope and accelerometer.

The Agni Missile Series :

Agni I :
This is the first missile of the Agni Series. The Agni 1 was capable of carrying a conventional payload of 1,000 kg or one nuclear warhead. The Agni 1 weighed about 12 tonnes. The range of Agni-1 was about 7,00-1,250 kms with a speed of about 2.5 Km/s.
Agni-1 is used by the SFC of the Indian Army. (Strategic Force Command)

Agni II :
The Agni two is the second missile of the Agni Series. It weighed about 18 tonnes. Agni II is claimed to be a "credibledeterrence" against China and Pakistan. The range of Agni-II is about 2,000 kms. The Agni-II is a part of the Strategic Forces arsenal for nuclear deterrence.

Agni III:
The Agni-III is the third missile of Agni Series. It was first tested on 2006. The range of Angi-III is about 3,500 kms and it can take a warhead of about 1.5 tonnes. And, the good thing about Agni-III is that it's circular error probable (CEP) lies within the range of 40 meters making it the most accurate strategic ballistic missile of its range class in the world. With such an accurate ballistic missile, the Indian designers can use a relatively small yield of nuclear warheads. (About 200 kiloton thermonuclear or boosted fission). With this, India can deploy a large nuclear force with less use of fusion material than the other nuclear weapons. The other ballistic missiles of the other nuclear countries use about 1 or 2 Megaton warheads to achieve the same level of "Kill-efficiency".And, with a smaller payload, the Agni III can strike targets way ahead of 3,500 kms.

Agni IV:
The Agni-IV is the fourth missile of Agni missile series. (It was earlier known as Agni-II prime).
The range of Agni-IV is about 4,000 kms. The Agni-IV is it's first test launch showed a remarkable degree of accuracy. The Agni-IV can have a payload of explosives weighing about a tonne. The Agni-IV also holds ring-laser gyro and composite rocket motor.

The Agni VI :
The Agni IV (Which isn't out yet) is gonna be the most advanced missile in the Agni Missile Series with a range of about 8,000-10,000 kms which can be fired from land as well as a submarine.
